Workplace Wellbeing
Workplace Wellbeing
Swire Properties values our employees. In 2025, we worked to improve their health and wellbeing through a wide variety of activities and events.
Swire Properties’ Workplace Wellbeing Framework
Based on feedback received from our People’s Engagement Surveys, Swire Properties developed a new Workplace Wellbeing Framework in 2023. Aligned with our SD 2030 Strategy, which aims to create an environment in which our employees thrive and are healthier, happier and more productive, the framework’s purpose is to make wellbeing a tangible, meaningful and fundamental characteristic of the way we work and the overall employee experience.
The framework has three key focus areas:
- Built Environment
- Workplace Interactions and HR Policy
- Ways of Working
The framework is managed within our People Pillar and is overseen by the ESGSC, with a Wellbeing sub-group situated within the People Working Group. The success of employee wellbeing initiatives related to the framework is tracked through employee experience metrics and progress made against the three focus areas.
In 2025, we implemented wellbeing-specific actions and activities that show positive and measurable impacts on employee wellbeing in support of our SD 2030 Goals. We were guided by specific feedback from our latest People’s Engagement Survey and other sources to bridge generational expectations on working styles and the overall work environment.
Swire Properties received the “Good Practice” award at the HKIHRM Best Workplace Awards 2025/2026. This recognition highlights our success in creating a vibrant and inclusive work environment with strong employee engagement and wellbeing and high satisfaction levels produced by comprehensive HR policies, wellness programmes and professional development initiatives.
People + Employee Engagement
In 2025, through our People+ initiative that focuses on Community, Sports and Wellbeing, we continued to build a workplace culture that empowers our people to thrive, engage and connect. Regular wellness activities included yoga sessions and exercise classes, along with our Quarterly Health Series, which features preventative measures such as onsite health screenings and expert talks on physical and mental health topics relevant to our colleagues and the workplace. We also offered interest clubs and mental wellness sessions to further support employee engagement and wellbeing.

Swire Properties’ year-round wellness programme enhances employee health awareness and promotes early prevention of health issues. Each quarter, we focus on a specific health-related theme to create a programme that includes screenings, expert-led sessions and practical resources to help colleagues make informed lifestyle choices.
In 2025, we addressed key health topics that directly impact our staff, with themes such as cardiovascular and respiratory health, digestive wellness, eye care, and musculoskeletal and heart health. We conducted a total of 24 activities during the year which included workshops, talks, screenings, and wellness tip sessions, engaging nearly 700 staff members in total.

Interest Clubs
Swire Properties’ interest clubs are designed to foster connections and strengthen relationships among staff through shared passions. These clubs reflect the diverse interests and needs of our workforce and promote community engagement and teamwork. Importantly, these initiatives are all employee-driven with the activities designed and led by our staff, allowing them to connect and experience these interests with their teammates and colleagues. Some of the most popular clubs include Tasting, Cooking, Fitness and Jogging, and Football.

In the summer, staff embraced the outdoors through several “Make Way for Nature” workshops that offered a fresh perspective on nature-inspired creativity and sustainability. They included mirror drawing that encouraged mindfulness, natural dyeing that showcased the beauty of plant-based materials, and a floral recycling workshop that creatively repurposed dried flowers from the Make Way for Nature installation into bouquet art. In late July, a summer social event brought teams together for a journey through the Swire Archive followed by a wine-tasting session.

A Sustainable Workers’ Lounge at Taikoo Li Xi’an
A Sustainable Workers’ Lounge at Taikoo Li Xi’an
The Oasis, the workers’ lounge at our Taikoo Li Xi’an project, includes multiple sustainable design elements. Furniture is reused from previous construction projects, tiles are made from reclaimed oak wood and leftover concrete, and the fencing is creatively repurposed from recycled concrete wood formwork.
The lounge is integrated with the Taikoo Li Xi’an Mobile Safety app. Workers can earn reward tokens by engaging in safety-related activities like completing daily check-ins and online safety training modules and reporting potential hazards. These tokens can be redeemed at the lounge’s vending machines, incentivising a stronger construction site safety culture.
One major 2025 update was the installation of a ground source heat pump that provides renewable energy for space heaters. The system went into full operation in November, providing a comfortable winter environment for construction workers. The system uses concealed air-conditioning units to maintain an indoor temperature between 22°C and 27°C.
