Celebrating Taikoo Li Chengdu’s 10th Anniversary
Celebrating Taikoo Li Chengdu’s 10th Anniversary
2025 marked the 10th anniversary of Taikoo Li Chengdu. To commemorate this milestone, and Taikoo Li Chengdu’s consistent embrace of originality in its placemaking, we curated a thematic exhibition called “Your Incredible Moments”set inside a 10 m-high pavilion.
Viewed from above, the pavilion formed the figure “10”. Made from reclaimed wooden beams from traditional western Sichuan residences, it fused tradition with innovation, mirroring Swire Properties’ creative transformation ethos. On the ground floor, illustrator Yiyin Zhou created multi-layered illustrations depicting 10 feelings and emotions called “Shi (10) Fen”. The second level unfolded like a scroll painting. During the day, it depicted ever-changing seasonal scenes, symbolising the flow of time over 10 years. At night, the imagery transformed into a view of a futuristic universe.
Swire Properties’ Arts Month 2025 and Art Basel 2025
Swire Properties’ Arts Month 2025 celebrated nature-inspired art and immersive experiences with international artists. This year’s programme featured site-specific installations, performances, art-related conversations and interactive art that underlined the Company’s continued partnership with Art Basel Hong Kong.
The 2025 Swire Properties VIP Lounge at Art Basel Hong Kong, titled Intersection, was designed by Hong Kong based architecture firm A:I, using mainly recycled materials from past projects. The Lounge served as a welcoming and open space for creative exchange, and featured our long-running Dialogue Series, with visitors engaging with influential voices in art and design.
Pacific Place hosted the only offsite project for Art Basel Hong Kong’s Encounters for the third consecutive year. Monster Chetwynd’s site-specific installation, Lanternfly Ballet, paid homage to Hong Kong’s rich biodiversity, specifically the lantern bug and the city’s woodlands. The piece transformed Pacific Place into a fantastical ecosystem, blending live performances with nature-themed, life-sized sculptures
Starstreet Precinct welcomed Beauty and Gesture (La Beauté et le Geste), a sculptural installation by French contemporary artist Laurent Perbos. Inspired by the renowned Greek sculpture Venus de Milo, the installation comprised six reimaginations of the Venus statue, each holding specific pieces of Olympic sports equipment. The installation visited Hong Kong following its debut during the 2024 Paris Olympics and a tour of the Chinese Mainland.
Taikoo Place presented ArtisTree Selects: The Jewel System by Sara Shakeel – two transformative art installations placed at ArtisTree and Two Taikoo Place, highlighting how world-class art can drive sustainable development. The Jewel System is a reinterpretation of the solar system using traditional Pakistani embroidery techniques and millions of crystals; while Genesis in Jewels at Two Taikoo Place reconceptualised the spark of existence – a tangible and emotional experience featuring an interplay of light, crystals and the darkness of the vast cosmos. The work also championed environmental responsibility and innovation, incorporating over 3.9 million ethically-sourced crystals.
The exhibitions offered free admission, attracting over 78,000 visitors during their run. The installation also became a backdrop for unique tenant engagement events and community activities, creating opportunities for tenant private dining experiences and business networking. By offering free access to art, curated tours and interactive events such as panel discussions, the exhibitions fostered dialogue and strengthened connections within Taikoo Place, enriching the cultural landscape in the local art scene. Collaboration with a like-minded anchor tenant extended business outreach, while partnership with an online cultural magazine secured international media coverage, positioning Taikoo Place as a global cultural destination.
At Upper House Hong Kong, post-digital art group Random International presented Seasons, an exclusive live painting performance. The artists transformed digital data into hand-painted masterpieces with custom performance instruments. The collective also joined Upper House Hong Kong’s signature fireside series Up Close and the Swire Properties Dialogue Series.
EAST Hong Kong celebrated Arts Month 2025 with The Giant Crushed Cans Series by French artist THE FRENCH GIRL. The exhibition reimagined discarded objects as powerful symbols of transformation, urging audiences to rethink waste and sustainability. Elements included three bronze sculptures and a collaborative wall of upcycled cans co-created between the EAST Hong Kong team and THE FRENCH GIRL.
HKRI Taikoo Hui: Uniting the Community through Arts and Culture
HKRI Taikoo Hui once again became a hub for community engagement in art and culture in 2025, with several unique and stunning exhibitions held throughout the year.
Dare for More Dare to Spring
Dare for More Dare to Spring
Between March and May 2025, HKRI Taikoo Hui held the seasonal “Dare For More Dare To Spring” exhibition, featuring a series of artistic collaborations and activities focusing on sustainability.
The centrepiece was the incredible Reborn installation, created by Tianyu Gu. Using recycled materials from the complex’s shopping mall, office towers and boutique hotels, Gu used the delicate filigree inlay technique, a Chinese intangible cultural heritage, and contemporary craftsmanship to create an imaginative piece reflecting Swire Properties’ dedication to environmental responsibility.
The campaign also included sustainability-themed workshops, music and dance performances at the WOW STAGE and exclusive offers from restaurants participating in our Green Kitchen Initiative.
The Louis
The Louis
In late June, HKRI Taikoo Hui launched “The Louis” by Louis Vuitton – a new space that reimagines the intersection of luxury, culture and urban living. The striking, boat-shaped structure pays homage to Louis Vuitton’s heritage of travel and Shanghai’s maritime legacy. Inside, a café offers a luxury snack menu while the “Visionary Journeys” exhibition takes guests on a voyage through time and space.
“The Louis” is one of Swire Properties’ ongoing partnerships with leading global brands to introduce flagship and concept stores. We plan to continually make placemaking investments in this area to elevate the Nanjing West Road commercial district’s profile as a cultural and retail destination.
Ocean Encounters
Ocean Encounters
From June to September, the “Ocean Encounters” public art initiative transformed HKRI Taikoo Hui into a vibrant canvas promoting social connection. The mall showcased three acclaimed artists: British pioneer of relational aesthetics Liam Gillick’s “Perpetual Discussion Platforms” – four colourful platforms creating an open public space for interaction and intellectual exchange; Japanese contemporary artist Nobuaki Takekawa’s “Galley In the Age of Great Knowledge”, symbolising humanity's quest for understanding and direction; and Chinese multidisciplinary artist Tianzhuo Chen's “Oceanic Whisper”, a 300-metre visual journey depicting a whale gliding through the city’s imagined sea. The work unfolds across four chapters – Trace, Drift, Trigger, and Echo – each telling an ecological story reflecting humanity’s connections to the natural world.
Embracing Traditional Crafts at Citygate Outlets
Embracing Traditional Crafts at Citygate Outlets
Citygate Outlets partnered with a local paper lantern artisan for a Chinese New Year festive display. He created a stunning two-metre-tall lantern as the centrepiece for our festive décor, lighting up the mall, showcasing our appreciation for traditional craftsmanship and local culture and raising public awareness of the importance of preserving traditional craft-making.
He also led a hands-on half-day lantern-making workshop for over 100 secondary school students in Tung Chung, demonstrating traditional paper lantern craftsmanship techniques and contributing to placemaking in the community. Lanterns made by the students were incorporated into the mall’s festive decorations. Our collaboration gained signification recognition – it was featured on the Hong Kong Connection TV programme, and our festive décor was named one of “The Most Festive CNY Decorations in Hong Kong” by a leading global media company.
“Island Eastern Corridor of Time” Community Tour
“Island Eastern Corridor of Time” Community Tour
As a Global Business District, Taikoo Place is an iconic landmark that looks to the future while preserving the legacy of the former Taikoo Sugar Refinery and its countless fascinating stories. Late in 2025, our Community Ambassadors partnered with the Swire Archives team and Hong Kong Resource Centre for Heritage to launch the “Island Eastern Corridor of Time” Community Tour, a half-day event that introduced 30 underserved students to the rich cultural and historical landscape of Eastern District.
The tour travelled along the Island Eastern Corridor, making stops at Wan Chai, Fortress Hill and concluding at Quarry Bay, with visits to Quarryside and Taikoo Place. Students capped off the experience with festive fun at Swire Properties’ White Christmas Street Fair on Tong Chong Street.
