Taikoo Place aimed to achieve a 25% recycling rate in 2025. Our Property Management team collaborated with Leasing, Technical and other teams, leveraging their combined expertise to attempt to reach this goal.
We actively engaged F&B tenants, the primary producers of food waste and used coffee grounds at our properties. Through internal and external discussions, we identified key tenant challenges to effective recycling. These included:
  • The inconvenience of transporting waste from their premises to collection points.
  • Inadequately sized storage bins and bags.
  • A general lack of knowledge about recycling practices.
Following these discussions, we engaged a cleaning contractor to streamline the recycling process. We provided free green bags and a variety of collection bins to accommodate different shop sizes, offering tenants greater flexibility. We also organised regular site visits to review tenant practices.
At the same time, we explored opportunities to recycle materials during major renovation and replacement projects, fostering cross-department collaborations to identify salvageable materials, boosting the recycling rate and lowering disposal costs.
The overall recycling rate rose significantly in 2025, climbing from 18.5% in the first half of 2024 to [25% in 2025] – an impressive 6.5% increase.
